2024 Western Sydney Emerging Designer Award Launch

The 3rd Biennial Western Sydney Emerging Designer Award is here!

Partnering once again with Western Sydney University, Maxton Fox is thrilled to announce the 2024 Emerging Designer Award, the furniture design competition for students within the School of Engineering, Design, and Built Environment. 

This year, our focus is on MODULARITY. We believe in the power of simple, functional designs and their ability to ignite sustainable practices in commercial spaces. The shift back to communal environments, post pandemic, has instigated a notable change in the design approach of commercial spaces, placing emphasis on flexibility, sustainability, and collaboration. We are seeking innovative furniture designs that encourage agility in areas like lobbies, receptions, communal workspaces, and more. 

We are excited to see how our future designers approach this challenge when considering populated use, mobile flexibility, and environmental needs. We encourage playfulness and creativity in design. Experimenting with color, texture, and shape opens up endless possibilities for both functional enhancements and aesthetic customisations. We love to see unique designs shine through in these competitions. 

Similar to previous years, all students will have the opportunity to pitch their concepts throughout the design process to our Maxton Fox team, in addition to their final submission where they present their completed design. Following this, the shortlisted designs will then be presented at a unique showcase event, amongst a panel of industry judges to determine the final winner. The winning design will then be manufactured, launched to market, and added to our Maxton Fox Range.
